This versatile, timeless ingredient can also be drizzled over appetizers and main dishes as a finishing touch to liven up your cuisine.

Olive oil is rich in monounsaturated fat which lowers LDL (or “bad” cholesterol) and total cholesterol – lowering the risk of heart disease and stroke. According to Harvard Health Publishing, the consumer health education division of Harvard Medical School, observational studies have also shown that consuming higher amounts of olive oil can lower the risk of some cancers and even dementia.
Extra virgin olive oil is not processed with high heat or chemicals and contains more of the natural vitamins and minerals that are found in olives, including Vitamin E and Vitamin K.
Olive oil, and its extra virgin form, are traditionally used as the main source for added fat in the Mediterranean diet – a heart healthy, plant-based cuisine enjoyed by the people of Greece, Italy and other countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea.
